The world’s fastest estate car: G-POWER HURRICANE RS Touring based on the BMW M5 E61 Touring

After the G-POWER M5 HURRICANE RS with twin-supercharged engine and 750 hp/551 kW set the record for the world‘s fastest saloon car at the end of 2008 with 367.4 km/h, G-POWER went one better in 2010 with the next evolution, the M5 HURRICANE RR, which took the existing record to a new high of 372 km/h.

Now, a limited run of only 1,025 BMW M5 Touring models are being equipped with the stunning 750 hp/551 kW V10 twin-supercharged power plant from the G-POWER M5 HURRICANE RS. As a consequence, the G-POWER M5 HURRICANE RS Touring now takes its place in the record books as the world’s fastest estate car. With a top speed of 360 km/h (limited), it beats the existing record of 344.2 km/h (MTM RS6 R) from 2009 by 15.8 km/h, and the record of 320 km/h (Brabus T V12) from 1997 by a whopping 40 km/h. Use the following link to see video footage of the G-POWER M5 HURRICANE RS Touring reaching its electronically limited top speed of 360 km/h: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6kpW3zBeus

Alongside the 5.0l BMW V10 high-revving power unit, the basis for the phenomenal power output of 750 hp is provided by a G-POWER twin-supercharger system, version SK IIII RS. Downstream of the two ASA T1-316 superchargers, charging one cylinder bank each, the pre-compressed charge air is brought down to performance-enhancing temperatures by the twin-scroll, water-cooled intercooler finished in G-POWER’s characteristic orange. The intercooler, a sophisticated cast aluminium component replaces the series-production airbox above the engine, where its short airways facilitate the same spontaneous responsiveness as the series-production engine, albeit combined with a considerable benefit in torque.

On the inside, the ten-cylinder four-valve engine is optimized by lightweight, precisely balanced Mahle high-performance forged pistons with lower compression and increased stiffness. And because the standard con-rods and piston pins are not capable of withstanding the significantly increased forces, they, too, have been replaced by specialist parts. Optimized mapping for the engine electronics also contributes to the peak power output of 750 hp/551 kW between 7,500 and 8,000 r/min. The maximum torque of 750 Nm is reached at 5,000 revs.

It goes without saying that the stunning performance of the G-POWER HURRICANE RS Touring is not limited to top speed alone. The approximately 2-tonne estate sets equally impressive standards with a 0-100 km/h time of less than 4.5 seconds, as well as 9.7 seconds to 200 km/h and 26 seconds to the 300 km/h mark.

A two-tonne vehicle weight and a top speed of 360 km/h (limited) set extreme demands on the tyres, which is why the G-POWER M5 HURRICANE RS Touring runs on 20-inch G-POWER SILVERSTONE DIAMOND wheels with MICHELIN Pilot Sport rubber measuring 255/35 ZR 20 and 285/30 ZR 20. Developed specifically for BMW models, the G-POWER SILVERSTONE DIAMOND alloy wheel sets itself apart from the masses by its outstanding combination of twin spokes and the hallmark G-POWER “concave design”.  Another feature of the G-POWER SILVERSTONE rim is its weight-optimized design, enabling stability equal to that of factory wheels with a lower unit weight. Noticeably improved ride comfort and considerably better agility are further direct results of minimizing the unsprung masses. Handling is also enhanced by the G-POWER G5-RS coil-over suspension with nine-way adjustability for compression and rebound plus infinitely variable height adjustment.

A further factor contributing to the high-speed capabilities of the HURRICANE RS Touring is the G-POWER brake system front and rear. With a disc diameter of 396 mm on the front and 380 mm on the rear, combined with 6 and 4-pot callipers respectively, deceleration forces upwards of 1g are perfectly conceivable. Naturally, the G-POWER brake system boasts a crystal clear biting point and rest assured that fading, even under extreme load, is not an issue. Also worthy of consideration is the optional G-POWER ceramic brake set, which delivers a reduction in unsprung masses of around 50%.

The G-POWER M5 HURRICANE RS Touring does not only set benchmarks in performance, but also when it comes to individuality and exclusivity. The interior of the M5 Touring, upholstered by G-POWER in premium leather and Alcantara offers impressive confirmation of what is possible above and beyond “BMW Individual” equipment. The painstaking work carried out by hand by G-POWER craftsmen goes far beyond simply upholstering virtually every surface with the finest grades of leather and Alcantara. In contrast to many leather workshops, G-POWER takes the time to reshape the original BMW seat cushions. Only thanks to this unique technology can the distinctive look created by G-POWER be achieved in combination with an optimum synthesis of comfort and lateral grip.

The visual highlight of the G-POWER full leather upholstery is the diamond stitching on almost all surfaces, such as the seats, roof pillars and the entire headliner, with even the floor mats and rear load surface finished in this symmetrical pattern. G-POWER logos integrated into the seats and headliner set tasteful accents in this sophisticated composition of the very finest materials.

As a complete vehicle the BMW M5 HURRICANE RS Touring includes the 20” wheel set, suspension, brake system and the power increase to 750 hp, as well as the G-POWER full-leather upholstery to the level illustrated.

World’s fastest LPG - powered car: M5 HURRICANE GS - top speed 333 km/h

G-POWER is known first and foremost for spectacular supercars, enormous power hikes and world speed records. What is less well-known, however, is the fact that environmental protection and resource conservation also enjoy a high priority in all G-POWER developments.

The power increases achieved by G-POWER are not paid for by an exorbitant rise in fuel consumption, but by maximization of the specific efficiency of the modified driveline. In its December 2008 issue, German magazine “Auto Bild sportscars” calculated an average fuel consumption of 18.3 l/100 km for the G-POWER M6 HURRICANE equipped with a 635 hp bi-supercharger system. In the January 2009 issue, the series production BMW M6 was found to have a fuel consumption of 18.1 l/100 km. This equates to an added fuel consumption of around 1% paired with a power increase of around 25%!

The whole package becomes even more environmentally friendly when the increased output is delivered courtesy of LPG instead of petrol. The conversion, however, is not that straightforward, even for series production high-revving engines. The even bigger challenge comes when the engine in question is also supercharged via two ASA radial compressors. By lucky coincidence, G-POWER is not only a supercharging specialist, but also one that happens to have particular expertise with BMW V10 power units. It is not without reason that G-POWER is the only company worldwide to offer an aftermarket supercharger system for the BMW V10 engine.

The outcome is the G-POWER M5 HURRICANE GS equipped with one fully sequential five-cylinder LPG system per cylinder bank. The benefits of LPG as a fuel are both economical and ecological in nature – not only is LPG around 50% less expensive per litre than petrol, it also reduces CO2 emissions by around 15 percent.

That said, there can be no sacrificing the hallmark G-POWER performance increase. 660 hp and 650 Nm of torque are the figures achieved by the SK II bi-supercharger system thanks to low-pressure forced induction with a relative charge pressure of 0.6 bar. Each cylinder bank of the 5.0l V10 power plant is equipped with a belt-driven ASA T1-313 compressor. Compared with conventional mechanical superchargers, which consume a large proportion of the additional power generated to drive themselves, ASA compressors have an efficiency rating of up to 80 percent. They thus form the ideal foundation for efficient forced induction, as well as increased output with an eye on resource conservation.

Downstream of the two ASA compressors, the pre-compressed charge air is brought down to performance enhancing temperatures by the twin-scroll, water-cooled intercooler finished in G-POWER’s characteristic orange. This sophisticated cast aluminium component replaces the series production airbox above the engine, where its short airways facilitate the same spontaneous responsiveness as the series production engine, albeit combined with a considerable benefit in torque. The superiority of the G-POWER compressor system is particularly evident when it comes to low-end torque, which is one weakness in the high-revving concept favoured by M GmbH. At long last, the 5.0l V10 offers impressive power delivery, of the kind that many customers might reasonably have expected from the series production version. Specifically developed mapping of the engine electronics and SMG transmission control ensure perfect interaction of all components.

08.09.2010, 02:48 hours, local time. A desolate strip of autobahn close to G-POWER headquarters in Autenzell. The final test on the G-POWER development protocol is, as always, the calculation of top speed. With a sonorous growl from the G-POWER SPEED-Flow exhaust, the G-POWER M5 HURRICANE GS lets loose, just a few seconds later reaching its top speed of 333 km/h – a world record for an LPG car. With this world speed record, G-POWER delivers an impressive demonstration that high performance and environmental compatibility don’t have to be mutually exclusive.

Of course, it’s not just in top speed that the G-POWER HURRICANE GS achieves top marks. From a standing start, it sprints to 100 km/h in only 4.6 seconds. The 2-tonne saloon passes the 200 km/h mark in a total of just 11.4 seconds.

The immense forces that lie behind these figures are transmitted to the road via 9.0 x 20-inch and 10.5 x 20-inch forged SILVERSTONE CLUBSPORT alloy rims clad in 255/35 ZR 20 and 285/30 ZR 20 MICHELIN tyres. Thanks to their race-proven production technology, the G-POWER wheels are no heavier than the series production wheels, despite their larger dimensions. The resulting reduction in unsprung masses ensures better acceleration and greater agility through corners.

Further contributors to the high-speed capability of the HURRICANE GS are the G-POWER high-performance braking system and the G-POWER RS coil-over sports suspension, with 9-way adjustability for compression and rebound plus infinitely variable height adjustment.

G-POWER M6 HURRICANE RR based on the BMW M6: The World’s Fastest 4-seat Coupé

After the G-POWER M5 HURRICANE RS with bi-supercharger engine and 750 hp / 551 kW broke the record for the “world’s fastest saloon car” at the end of 2008 with a speed of 367.4 km/h, G-POWER went one step further in 2010, taking the existing record to a new all-time best of 372 km/h with the next evolution of the same car – the M5 HURRICANE RR.

The 800 hp 588 kW V10 bi-supercharger engine familiar from the G-POWER M5 HURRICANE RR is now also available in BMW’s full-size coupé, making the G-POWER M6 HURRICANE RR the world’s fastest 4-seat Coupé.

The necessary power increase comes courtesy of a further developed version of the 750 hp / 551 kW SK III RS bi-supercharger system, with the 800 hp evolution featuring two ASA T1-316 radial supercharger. The charge air, which is pre-compressed inside the two superchargers, is cooled to performance-enhancing temperatures by the dual-flow, water-cooled charge air cooler system finished in G-POWER’s characteristic orange. This complex aluminium casting replaces the standard-production airbox on top of the engine and, because of its short intake channels, facilitates the same spontaneous throttle response as the series production engine, combined, however, with a substantial increase in torque.

The inside of the ten-cylinder four-valve engine has been optimised by lightweight, precisely balanced Mahle high-performance forged pistons with lower compression and increased stiffness. Dedicated components are also required in place of the series-production con rods and piston pins, which are not specified to handle the significant increase in forces. Modified mapping for the engine electronics also contributes to the higher peak output of 800 hp / 588 kW at between 7,500 and 8,000 rpm. The maximum torque of 800 Nm is generated at 5,000 rpm.

Of course, the outstanding performance figures delivered by the G-POWER M6 HURRICANE RR are not limited to top speed alone. With less than 4.35 seconds from 0–100 km/h, the almost two-tonne coupé sets a standard that is just as impressive as the 9.5 seconds it takes to 200 km/h and the 24,9 seconds to the 300 mark.

Alongside the most powerful BMW engine ever to power a road-legal BMW M6, aerodynamics also played a fundamental role. Thus, the HURRICANE RR has been equipped with a G-POWER carbon-fibre front skirt and a rear spoiler for greater aerodynamic downforce at high speed.

The G-POWER M6 HURRICANE RR maintains its contact to the road with 20-inch G-POWER SILVERSTONE CLUBSPORT forged wheels clad in 255/35 ZR 20 and 285/30 ZR 20 rubber. Optimisation for performance was, of course, a priority in this department, too. Consequently, the all-new SILVERSTONE CLUBSPORT forged alloy wheels, measuring 9.0 x 20 inches and 10.5 x 20 inches, are no heavier than the series-production wheels, despite their far greater dimensions.

Further contributors to the high-speed capability of the M6 HURRICANE RR are the G-POWER high-performance braking system and the G-POWER RS coil-over sports suspension, with 9-way adjustability for compression and rebound plus infinitely variable height adjustment.

The exclusive nature of this automobile is clearly indicated by a tachometer that measures up to 400 km/h, visible carbon-fibre panelling for the dashboard, centre console and door trim, as well as the ergonomically shaped G-POWER sports steering wheel upholstered in perforated and highly tactile Kjerba Nappa leather.

The G-POWER M6 HURRICANE RR is available for order as a complete vehicle from G-POWER in Autenzell, Germany. The same G-POWER engine technology is also available in a 750 hp version for the current BMW M5 and M6. The G-POWER SK III RS bi-supercharger engine conversion with 750 hp / 551 kW is offered at a price of EUR 56,000 (net plus assembly).

G-POWER HURRICANE RR with 372 km/h the World’s Fastest Sedan

Following up on the G-POWER M5 HURRICANE RS powered by a G-POWER twin-supercharger engine with 750 hp/551 kW, which has set the record for the ‘world’s fastest sedan’ at 367,4 km/h in early 2010, G-POWER did it again. But this time with 372 km/h! With this target in mind, the development for the new evolutionary HURRICANE RR with 800 hp began.

A few weeks ago, the air is tight with tension when the G-POWER engineers give their “go” for the M5 HURRICANE RR to manage the ultimate test: High Speed. It takes only a few minutes to change the standard 20 inch G-POWER forged wheels to 19 inch ones. The wheels, especially fitted with Michelin Pilot Sport tires that Michelin are certified for top speeds of more than 370 km/h. The HURRICANE RR is ready to go, the test track as well. Apart from the swop of the wheels the HURRICANE RR is completely standard and relies predominantly on its power of the bi-supercharger engine. And just a few laps later it is done. The analysis of the engineers states a top speed of 372,1 km/h. World record! Once again…

To achieve this extreme performance, the twin supercharger system of the high-revving V10 has been redesigned. The two superchargers named ASA T1-313 have been replaced by larger ASA T1-316 units. They are both driven by a belt and do provide each cylinder bank with supercharged air. This means more space for the supercharged air by up to 25 percent. The air volume being transported by these modified superchargers is able to generate a theoretical power output of more than 900 hp.

The pre-compressed air from the superchargers is cooled for a maximum power output. A complicated aluminium casting - painted in G-POWER orange - replaces the standard air box on top of the engine, and its direct inlet is responsible for the spontaneous response characteristics which give the G-POWER motor its incomparable response and also much more torque.

The inner workings of the 10-cylinder, four-valve engine are optimised by light, precisely balanced MAHLE high-performance forged pistons with lower compression and increased mechanical strength. As the standard connecting rods and piston pins were equally not up to the considerably increased forces, here too, recourse was had to special parts.

An optimized mapping of the engine electronics also contributes to the increased power output of 800 hp / 588 kW, available between 7,500 and 8,000 rpm. The engine delivers its peak of torque of 800 Nm at 5,000 rpm.

But the G-POWER HURRICANE RR does not only set new performance standards for top speed. With an acceleration of just 4.35 seconds from nought to 100 km/h, 9.5 seconds up to 200 km/h and 25,8 seconds up to 300 km/h the two-ton sedan is also leading his class.

The G-POWER technology is available for all current M5 and M6 models. The G-POWER SK III bi-supercharger engine conversion with 750 hp / 551 kW starts at 56,000 Euros (net).

In addition to the most powerful BMW engine ever being fitted to a street-legal BMW M5 a new aerodynamic for maximum efficiency was key. The HURRICANE RR is equipped with the G-POWER “HIGHLINE” body kit. In addition to provide the necessary downforce the body kit is also designed to provide significant more air flow to cool the engine. The body kit consists of front and rear skirts and spoilers, doors render and the rear spoiler.

Two tons of weight and a top speed of 372.1 km/h naturally require extreme demands on the tires, being fitted on special G-POWER forged wheels. Our technology partner Michelin provided high-performance Pilot Sport tires in the dimensions 255/35 ZR 19 at the front axle and 305/30 ZR 19 at the rear axle for this reason. For every day use the G-POWER HURRICANE RR runs on 20-inch Silverstone CLUBSPORT wheels with the dimensions 245/35 ZR 20 and 285/30 ZR 20 front and rear.

Even more contributions to the HURRICANE RR’s high-speed talents are coming from a G-POWER high-performance brake system and the height-adjustable G-POWER RS coilover suspension that is adjustable for both compression and rebound in nine settings.

The interior of the record car features a tachometer reading up to 400 km/h, clear-coated carbon-fiber panels for the dashboard, center console and door panels. An ergonomically shaped G-POWER sports steering wheel with especially perforated Kjerba Nappa leather is completing this package.

The G-POWER HURRICANE RR can be ordered as a complete car, only. Any current M5 model – sedan or station wagon – can also be equipped with the individual G-POWER components of the world record holder.

370 km/h: The G-POWER M6 HURRICANE CS is the fastest BMW coupe in the world

Creating the ultimate BMW, nothing less was the set target for the G-POWER engineers when they started to designe the G-POWER M6 HURRICANE CS.

The starting basis for this project is the currently most exclusive model in the BMW product range, the BMW M6. Due to the combination of this fantastic basis with the technical innovative products of G-POWER, it was able to create a sports car of superlatives. Powered by a V10 SK III RS twin-supercharger engine with 750 hp / 552 kW, which enabled the G-POWER world record car to achieve a top speed of 367,4 km/h, the G-POWER M6 HURRICANE CS has got what it takes to be a member of the super car league.

Further characteristics of the G-POWER M6 HURRICANE CS is the multipart widebody kit, the high performance Carbon-Ceramic break system, the individually adjustable suspension kit and last but not least the nifty 21 inch G-POWER wheels with MICHELIN tyres. After the G-POWER M5 HURRICANE RS broke the world record for the fastest sedan, G-POWER developed this idea to use this potential to build the world’s fastest BMW coupe, the G-POWER M6 HURRICANE CS.

The G-POWER M6 HURRICANE CS sets new performance records not just for top speed with more than 370 km/h. With sprint times of less than 4.4 seconds from rest to 100 km/h, 9.6 seconds to 200 km/h and 26 seconds to 300 km/h the nearly two-ton coupe is at the head of the pack in these categories as well.

The G-POWER M6 HURRICANE CS can be ordered as a complete car starting at 360.000 Euros. The edition is limited to 5 cars worldwide.

World Record 228,3 mph - 367,4 km/h - fastest sedan in the world.

G-POWER breaks existing record...

After the record for the world’s fastest BMW sedan, G-POWER did it again and broke the long-standing record of the BRABUS Rocket for the fastest sedan in the world.

In November 2008 the 750 hp strong G-POWER M5 HURRICANE RS realised a new top speed of 228,3 mph (367,4 km/h). This speed has been clocked and certified at the ATP High-Speed test track in Papenburg. With it the since October 2006 valid record of 365,7 km/h has been broken.

The G-POWER high-speed world record has been realised with a 20 hp stronger evolution of the famous G-POWER M5 HURRICANE which has been clocked with 360 km/h earlier in 2008 and holds the record for the fastest BMW sedan. The extra power of the G-POWER M5 HURRICANE RS is the result of two modified superchargers from G-POWER’s technology partner ASA, with enlarged capacity. In the following the boost level of the G-POWER BI-Kompressor system could be raised from 0,7 bar rel. to 0,8 bar rel.

But still the G-POWER BI-Kompressor system has not yet reached its limit. According to CEO and engineer Christian Stöber:” …we can rise the boost level up to 1,0 bar rel. and more” and CEO Zoran Zorneke is of the opinion:” we can still improve, if we see the need for it”

We are curios if this will be necessary…

360 km/h – World Record – Fastest BMW Worldwide

G-POWER stands for the highest quality. This claim requires our products to prove their suitability for everyday use and stability at speeds over 300 km/h. The following is a report about the event which started as a test drive and ended with a world record …

The high speed test scheduled for that day begins with its warm up and test lap, after the G-POWER M5 V10 HURRICANE, standard apart from a “long” gearbox and special 19” set of wheels, had completed the 800 km long trip to Papenburg on its own wheels. However, already on the first lap it became clear that this was not going to be an ordinary test day …

11:56 a.m.: At the end of the first 50 degree;steeply banked corner, the G-POWER M5 V10 HURRICANE turns onto the only 4 km long straight with 293 km/h.  The G-POWER “G5-RS” adjustable suspension made it possible.

Then it is full throttle and the electronic display on the GPS measuring device shows a top speed of 355 km/h before the 8 pistons of the G-POWER “G5-380/8” race brake system bite into the drilled brake disks and therefore allow the driver to steer into the second 180 degree; banked corner. The ATP test driver returns to the pit and reports to the G-POWER team that the vehicle still has more potential, but the weather conditions are becoming critical.

1:20 p.m.: The display shows 308 km/h at the end of the banked corner, the needle rushes over the extended dial of the G-POWER speedometer, which reaches up to 400 km/h. At the same time, the weather tries its best to ruin a further chase for a record with an external temperature of just over zero degrees, side winds with gusts of up to 60 km/h and threatening snow showers. Unimpressed by this, the G-POWER M5 HURRICANE drives on, not least thanks to the additionally generated down force by the efficient G-POWER “HIGHLINE” aerodynamic package.

1:25 p.m.: The ATP test driver abandons the test drive after two “timed” laps. “Sorry guys, the weather doesn’t allow for more.” A nervous quiet descends over the G-POWER pit. Then the “officials” read out the official result from the ATP measuring engineers. A high speed of exactly 360 km/h was logged into the data memory. With this, the old world record for the fastest road legal BMW of 331.78 km/h was pulverised and improved to an unbelievable 360 km/h! The following celebrations are boundless …

As a result of this test, it can be noted that the G-POWER M5 HURRICANE, upgraded with components from the current G-POWER programme, has spectacularly proven its performance potential and is currently the fastest road legal BMW. Its combination of the ability for everyday use and the almost brutal performance is unique worldwide.
